Nursing home outbreak : No risk to public

The general public have no need to fear the current infection outbreak at Nazareth House, Fahan, a top health official has stressed.
Dr Peter Wright, Director of Public Health at HSE North West, said while the body were still awaiting test results – which he said they expected this evening – it was likely to be a strain of flu, and only harmful to “risk groups” such as the elderly.
He said full infection control procedures were in place at the home and the risk of the as yet unknown illness spreading to the public was “unlikely.”
Speaking to Greg Hughes on today’s Shaun Doherty Show, Dr Wright also revealed only 11, not 27, residents were now showing signs of infection:
