Gardaí in Donegal have shared a security checklist to support commercial properties minimise the opportunity for burglary.
The list assesses five different aspects of physical security in a bid to identify weak points which could make it easier for a criminal to gain access to a business premises.
These are perimeter security, alarms, CCTV, staff and stock.
A spokesperson said while no business is absolutely crime-proof, these checks and recommendations are intended to create security layers.
They also added that intruders like easy opportunities and if they have to make a lot of noise, spend a lot of time or risk being seen, the chances are they won’t bother.
As well as this, ff they are aware staff are security conscious they will be less likely to attempt a criminal act.
