Foyle Ferry can be replaced if supports are provided – Dallat

Donegal County Council says it is aware of the sale of the Foyle Ferry Company’s vessel to a company in Carlingford, meaning the company will not be seeking to renew its licence in March.
Ferry operator Jim Mc Clenaghan has confirmed he is retiring, leaving Donegal County Council seeking a
new operator between now and March when the service linking Greencastle and Magilligan was slated to resume after the winter break.
The issue will also be discussed by the new Causeway Coast and Glens Council in the North.
East Derry MLA John Dallat has family connections in Inishowen, and is a frequent user of the ferry. He was part of a deputation from County Derry which addressed an Oireachtas committee on the need for direct funding to support the service.
He says both governments have failed…………
