Rents rising slowly in Donegal & less than half national average

 

According to the latest Rent Index from the Residential Tenancies Board the standardised national average rent in Donegal was €571, less than half the national average of €1,122.
The RTB says although rents are at a record high, and the Irish rental market is experiencing unprecedented demand, the number of landlords is falling with a decline of 8,829 tenancies and 1,778 fewer landlords than in 2015.
In the October-December period of 2018, the standardised average rent in Donegal was €571 per month, up 2.9% from the second quarter of the year at €554.
Donegal was one of three counties that experienced growth of below 5% with a year on year increase of 2.3% from €558 in the third quarter of 2017.
The county with the lowest standardised average rent was Leitrim at €518 per month while Donegal was joint second lowest with Longford.
The Residential Tenancies Board says that in general the border and midlands counties had the lowest rents in Q3 2018, with Donegal, Leitrim and Longford all having standardised average rents below €600 euro per month.
