Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has defended the Jobpath programme, which saw a private company brought in to help people secure employment.
In the Dail, Donegal Deputy Thomas Pringle confronted the Taoiseach on what he described as ‘dismal figures’ regarding Jobpath success rates.
He questioned whether Jobpath had achieved anything apart from upsetting and alienating people:
Responding, the Taoiseach said it makes sense to use private companies to augment the work of public servants.
He told Deputy Pringle that the involvement of the private sector is improving the situation in health, education and other sectors:
