Parents, schools and GP’s are being urged to remain vigilant for Strep A.

The bacterial infection may be linked to the death of a young child in the HSE’s North East and North Dublin area, but laboratory testing is still being carried out.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre says 55 cases have been notified in Ireland since the start of the year, 21 of those since October.
