Donegal drivers caught speeding during Bank Holiday Roads Policing Operation

Two Donegal drivers were caught driving in excess of 100km/hr speed limits yesterday.

One driver was clocked in driving at 157km/h in a 100km/h zone on the R238, Tromaty, Quigleys Point, while another was detected at 122km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N13, Maghera Beg, Manorcunningham.

Since 7am yesterday morning, Gardaí are out detecting poor driving behaviours such as driving above the speed limit as part of the October bank holiday road safety operation.

A total of 79,742 vehicles have been checked for speeding, with 136 drivers being detected.

An Garda Síochána advises all drivers to please slow down and drive safely today and over the rest of the long weekend as so many of us take to the roads.

It comes as four people across the island of Ireland died on the roads since Friday.
