Horse-racing: Donegal jockeys continue to impress on a global scale

Dylan Browne McMonagle

It has been yet another fantastic week for Donegal jockeys across the world.

Dylan Browne McMonagle has returned down under and it didn’t take him long to find his way into the winner’s enclosure.

The Letterkenny youngster finished first on board “Snitzanova” for trainer Ciaron Maher in yesterday’s 5:05 race in Newcastle, Australia.

In what was an interesting week for Browne McMonagle, his greyhound “Droopys Kathleen” made history last Saturday with an incredible 27.58 track record in the second semi-final of The Gourmet Island Puppy Oaks at Shelbourne Park.

Despite the spotlight being on the Boylesports Derby quarter-finals, her record-breaking performance proved to be the highlight of the night, cementing her status as one of the most thrilling young talents in the sport.

No greyhound has ever gone faster over 525 yards than Dylan Browne McMonagle’s “Droopy Kathleen” did last weekend.

Elsewhere in the horse-racing world this week, Oisin Orr had a winner in Bahrain.

Orr was on board the Richard Fahey trained “Spirit Dancer” in the 4:35 race on Friday evening.

Fellow Donegal jockey Brandon Wilkie also had success this week – Wilkie rode David Marnane’s “Ja’marr” to victory at Dundalk on Friday.
