PSNI in Derry seize abandoned scrambler

Police in Derry have again issued a warning regarding the use of scramblers in public spaces.

It’s after a bike was seized over the weekend.

Foyleside and The Moor Neighbourhood Policing Team observed a scrambler being driven on footpaths and grass areas while on patrol in the Glenside Road area on Sunday last.

The driver, who was wearing a helmet, abandoned the scrambler on seeing police and made off from the scene on foot.

The scrambler was seized.

Police are warning that when driven dangerously, at speed there is a serious risk of injury to both the drivers and passers-by. As well as this it creates a nuisance in built-up areas.

The public is being urged to report any incidents of such machines being driven in a reckless manner to police.

PSNI is also reminding scrambler owners that the vehicles should only be driven on private land where the landowner has given permission and should not be driven on pavements, roads, public property, or parks.
