UK government to challenge ‘unlawful’ ruling over refusal of public inquiry into Co. Derry murder

The UK government is to challenge a court ruling that found its refusal to hold a public inquiry into the killing of Sean Brown was unlawful.

The GAA official was killed by a loyalist gang as he locked the gates of a club in Bellaghy, Co. Derry in 1997.

The Secretary of State Hilary Benn says he remains determined to have a full thorough and independent investigation into Mr Brown’s murder.
