
It has been confirmed to a Donegal Deputy by the Regional Executive Officer for the HSE West and North West that the proposal to develop a surgical hub in the northwest has now been considered by the HSE Board and was approved last week.
It comes after 171 doctors from Donegal demanded an urgent meeting with the Minister for Health over the exclusion of Letterkenny from the surgical hub plan.
It’s understood the hub is to be located in Sligo.
Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn says the need for this meeting has become more urgent than ever.
The HSE expects to submit the proposal to the Department of Health over the coming week.
