HSE and unions agree formula to extend working week

A deal has been struck between the HSE and trade unions to introduce an extended working week.

It will see consultants and other staff rostered five days over seven.

The HSE says the “overarching aim” of the extended hours is “to facilitate a smoother patient flow and greater levels of discharge”.

It’ll affect all parts of the health service and HSE-funded agencies.
