
A delegation of councillors from the North West is meeting with Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins in Stormont this afternoon to discuss the latrest saetback to plans for the upgrade of the A5.
The A5/N2 Committee is chaired by Doneqal Councillor Paul Canning, and he says they’ll have a clearer view of the situation after today’s meeting.
He says the request for the meeting was made before the court’s decision was announced………
In a statement this morning, Derry Chamber says aside from its urgent necessity in terms of safety, the new A5 project would have acted as a key infrastructural project to unlock connectivity and help deliver regional balance on both sides of the border by enabling greater economic activity in Tyrone, Derry, and Donegal.
They say this ruling also raises serious questions about other infrastructural projects in Northern Ireland.
