Gardaí responded to a report of a break-in at a house in the area of Larganreagh, Downings on the Carrigart Road in the early hours of yesterday.
Just after 4.05, a homeowner discovered a man laying upstairs in his home.
He woke him, and the man became aggressive, but did leave the house taking a gearbag belonging to the homeowner as he left.
It is believed that entry may have been gained to the house via a downstairs toilet window.
Gardai are urging anyone who may have been in the area between 3am and 4.30am with a dash-cam to make the footage available.
