Teachers Union of Ireland warns profession is becoming “unaffordable”

Teachers are warning the profession is becoming unaffordable.

The Teachers Union of Ireland is calling on the government to introduce a number of measures to address the recruitment and retention crisis.

It says a shortage of staff will see students miss out on subject options, with just one in four new second level teachers receiving a contract of full hours.
