Claudy man sentenced for £13k benefit fraud

A man has been convicted of fraud at Derry Magistrates Court today.

Esmund Temple, of Irwin Crescent, Claudy, has received a three-month sentence, suspended for twelve months.

The 69-year-old wrongly claimed £13,560 in Universal Credit whilst failing to declare his capital.

The Department for Communities uncovered the fraud, and the full amount has been repaid.
