A planning permission application has been submitted by Met Eireann to see the erection of a weather tower at Lough Fad in South Donegal.
The structure would comprise of a galvanised steel truss radar tower with a technical equipment room, a radome located at the top and 24 solar panels what would located on the ground.
If completed the structure would stand at 30m tall and 8m wide.
