
A centre for adults with disabilities in West Donegal has received a positive report from HIQA.
During an unannounced inspection of Dungloe Services in November, the facility was found to be compliant or substantially compliant in all areas.
There were three patients at the facility, which accommodates up to four.
Overall, the inspector found that good governance arrangements coupled with a high standard of care and support meant that residents living at Dungloe Services were happy in their home and felt safe.

(HSE Statement)
Dungloe Services designated centre is managed by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and provides residential support for up to four residents with an intellectual disability. The centre comprises of a two storey building and is located near a large town in County Donegal. Residents each have their own bedroom and have access to shared communal areas which include the kitchen, living room and bathrooms. Residents also have access to a garden area at the back of the house. The centre is staffed on a 24 hour basis by nurses and healthcare assistants. Transport is provided to accommodate residents accessing community based facilities and activities.
Dungloe Services was inspected by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) on the 17 November 2025.
The inspector met with all three residents throughout the day, two of the residents spoke about how they liked their home, the inspector met the third resident in their bedroom and spoke about the paint that they picked and new bedding in matching shades. The inspector noted the room was warm and cosy with items of personal interest displayed. The inspector noted this was a very pleasant inspection, where the residents lived in a comfortable home which met with their assessed needs.
Fifteen regulations were inspected, fourteen regulations received a compliant judgement and one regulation was deemed to be substantially compliant. The HSE has undertaken the following actions to ensure full compliance within this centre:
The Statement of Purpose has been reviewed to ensure it reflects the actual purpose for all rooms within the designated centre
Plans have been updated to change the function of one of the rooms
HSE Disability Services in the Donegal Integrated Healthcare Area will continue to work to ensure that robust governance, quality and safety arrangements are in place within the Dungloe Services designated centre to ensure high quality services are provided to all residents.
