Richard Kerr will be riding for a new team in the British Superbike Championship this year.
SM Racing will join the BSB grid for the first time and have signed the Kilmacrennan native for their opening campaign which starts with atest this weekend at Donnington.
The new SM Racing team led by Team Owner Sean Meighan will also feature a familiar partnership with AMD, long-time supporters of Kerr throughout his career including for much of his success in the Superstock series.
The new team also features a collaboration with Chris Fairburn, whose team took the Honda Fireblade to a podium finish in 2024.
Kerr had a challenging first season in the Superbike class last year, but is eager to get the season started after being reunited with Honda, the manufacturer he celebrated Superstock victory with in 2023.

Kerr said: “Firstly, I am very excited about what is ahead; being back on a Honda again has been a bit of a dream of mine after a tough season last year for myself and the team. I learnt a lot though in my first full season in the Superbike class, and I knew there was always going to be a lot of learning to do, but I feel that will help me going forward.
“Over the winter I have been riding a Superstock bike that AMD gave me, so I have been getting used to a Honda again and straight away it felt good to be back on a bike I was more familiar with, which felt really good. I haven’t tested the full Superbike yet, but I believe we can keep building this season. The test at Donington Park this weekend will be my first laps on the new bike, so I am really looking forward to it.
“The new team have been working really hard and I believe we have put together a really good crew and we are ready to go. It has been a massive effort from everyone involved with the SM Racing team and we can’t wait for testing and the first round now. I want to say a huge thanks to everyone involved, especially Team Owner Sean Meighan, who has put together such a great package for me and got us to where we are now. I am really excited to get going and I want to thank everyone for making it happen.”
Team Owner, Sean Meighan, commented: “Richard is a very talented rider with a big heart and we look forward to working together, finding our level and starting from there. We have some great partners involved and hopefully we can progress together as a team and give Richard the best opportunity to achieve both his and the team’s goals.”
