New figures from the Society of Irish Motor Industry shows a 52% increase Electric car registrations nationwide in the year to March.
However, new car registrations were down 10% in the same period as almost 15,500 were registered.
Imported used cars saw a near 40% increase year on year.
Donegal saw an increase in registrations year on year by 1.36%, while new electric car registrations in the county rose by 53.4%.
